Welcome to the School District of Belleville! We are the Wildcats! As a school community, we pride ourselves on offering “big city opportunities with small town service.” This begins with a school culture that all stakeholders- students, staff, parents, and the community- create. Within the past decade, Belleville has promoted the “Wildcat Way.” Through our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system, students are taught safety, respect, and responsibility. This has translated into fewer student discipline problems and a more productive atmosphere. Only 1.4% of Belleville students were suspended out-of-school in 2021-22, compared to the statewide average of 9.2%. Belleville has not gone through the expulsion process with a student in the last eight years.
When students feel safe and comfortable within their learning environment, they can achieve at extremely high levels. The School District of Belleville received an overall school report card score of 74.7 for the 2022-23 school year. That “exceeds expectations'' and places Belleville 6th out of 16 Dane County school districts. It is also the fourth highest in the Capitol Conference. Belleville Elementary School's 4th grade Science and 5th grade Mathematics scores were the highest for their cohort in the county as well. Belleville’s ACT scores have topped the Wisconsin average every year since it became a statewide assessment. Belleville High School also received a Silver Award from the Advanced Placement Honor Roll- only one of 15 high schools in the state with that type of honor. Similarly, Belleville earned Distinguished District designations from Project Lead the Way in both 2020-21 and 2021-22- one of only two school districts in the state to receive this recognition.
For students who struggle, Belleville offers interventions in reading and mathematics based on state assessments, STAR/Pre-ACT scores, and teacher recommendations. Our goal is to provide interventions to students under the 25th national percentile and teach them the necessary skills to advance out of these interventions.
Finally, Belleville offers 30 clubs and activities along with 12 no-cut athletic programs. Our advisors and coaches work together so that students can participate in more than one activity at a time, and really, do it all!
