Belleville High School (BHS) is made up of approximately 285 9th through 12th-grade students. For a small community (2682 residents) located just 18 miles southwest of Madison, Belleville offers “big-school” opportunities. However, BHS does so in an extremely safe environment and a welcoming atmosphere that you would expect from a small town. This is one of the reasons it was voted one of Madison’s best suburbs.
Belleville High School offers 11 Advanced Placement courses and 14 dual-credit courses through either Madison College or Blackhawk Technical College. Our success rate in these courses has been tremendous. In 2023, BHS students took 138 Advanced Placement exams, passing 68% of these tests.
Our A/B block schedule (alternating days, with five 80-minute periods each day) offers tremendous flexibility. We currently offer 105 different courses. We can also accommodate individual student requests with additional online courses. Belleville High School is a 1:1 school, with all students assigned a Chromebook that they can utilize both at school and at home. For students who struggle, Belleville High School offers both reading and math interventions. In addition, our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports program (PBIS) provides a check-in/check-out system for students who need more support while continuing to recognize students who consistently demonstrate the positive Wildcat Way.
Our re-designed STEAM offerings now include five Project Lead the Way (PLTW) courses in which you can earn college credit - Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Computer Science, Engineering Design & Development, Principles of Engineering, and Introduction to Engineering Design. BHS students have created a new student-run business called “Wildcat Manufacturing” which made its debut in the 2022-23 school year.
Belleville High School School-to-Career (STC) program, now in its ninth year continues to be a worthy investment for both employers/mentors, and our students. During the 2023-24 school year sixteen newly accepted and four continuing Junior/Seniors will participate in Youth Apprenticeship (YA), The paid positions build and enhance entry-level skills taught by their workplace mentor(s) and the instructor of the required concurrent course. Average annual earnings for most Youth Apprentices is $5,600.00. In addition, YA's earn industry certifications and are building a network of professionals for their next career steps. Another STC program for Junior and Seniors seeking to develop or enhance their employability skills is the Work Experience Program (Non- YA). This program has a long history of job placements for more than thirty Juniors/Seniors each year in both Dane and Green counties. To learn more about these programs visit the School-to-Career webpage on the BHS website or click here.
One of the greatest benefits of attending a small school is the opportunity to participate on championship sports teams like our Wildcat football and volleyball teams, and our Sugar River Raider Soccer and Track & Field teams, as well as in our award-winning extracurricular organizations (Capital Conference Academic Bowl Champions, and a state-qualifying Science Olympiad team). All are gladly accepted!
Niche recently ranked our staff as the 6th best staff out of the 380 districts in the state. It’s always a great day to be a Wildcat!
