ABOUT US
Welcome to the School District of Belleville—home of the Wildcats! Nestled just 18 miles southwest of Madison in Dane and Green counties, our district serves approximately 955 students across three closely integrated school buildings.
As a school community, we pride ourselves on offering "big-city opportunities with small-town service." Driven by our core mission, we provide all students with a quality, personalized learning experience that prepares them to meet the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. Our vision ensures that every student achieves success and graduates as a lifelong learner, globally competitive and fully prepared for college, career, and life.
Through our commitment to academic excellence and community-focused education, the School District of Belleville consistently achieves an overall state report card score that "Exceeds Expectations," ranking us among the top 20% of public school districts in Wisconsin.
Our History & Heritage
The foundations of our district are deeply intertwined with the history of the Village of Belleville, established in the 1840s along the Sugar River. From our humble beginnings as a small rural schoolhouse system serving local agricultural families, our educational community grew rapidly in the 20th century.
For seven decades (1927–1997), Belleville's student-athletes and scholars proudly competed in the historic State Line League. A major turning point arrived in 1997 when the community invested in the future by constructing the modern Belleville High School facility. This era also marked our transition into the Six Rivers Conference, followed by our entry into the prestigious Capitol Conference in 2006, where our Wildcats continue to build a legacy of leadership, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit. Today, all three of our district schools sit proudly on an interconnected campus ecosystem, representing a shared community vision that bridges our rich heritage with future innovation.
